West Walker Check It Out Project Launches

As of February 2014, BFE have been awarded funding from ISOS Housing in order to start a venture for the West Walker area, simply known as ‘The West Walker Check It Out Project’ to encourage those in the area to get back into learning, at any level, with the aim of progressing back into work or volunteering.  BFE are working closely with JET North for the next 12 months on this project in order to offer an array of support and opportunities to individuals we meet.

Learning can be very daunting and boring for a lot people but at BFE we want to make learning as enjoyable as it can be.  We therefore like to offer as much support as possible to assist you to find the right employment and point you in the right direction for any volunteering you may be interested in.  Courses delivered can be tailored to the needs and wishes of learners and act as a taster session to make sure it is the right course for you!

The West Walker Check It Out Project are incredibly interested in meeting people living in the West Walker area and have organised two ‘Pop-Up Parties’ within Church Walk to give residents the opportunity to come along and take part in competitions with worthwhile prizes as well as kids face painting, games and activities culminating in the main event – fire spinning!  The first of these parties will take place on the 22nd February at Walker Parish from 11.30am – 2.00pm and the second on the 26th February at Kids Kabin in Church Walk.

The main launch project has been planned to happen towards the end of March with invitations to be sent out soon!
