When a person loses their job, for whatever unfortunate circumstances, it can be a real challenge to get yourself re-motivated or to imagine where the future will take you. However, Tracy Paxton-Beattie was determined not to let her disillusionment get in the way of her future prospects.
So, not wanting her unfortunate situation to beat her, she considered all of her options to get her back on track towards a brighter future and decided to ask for help via her local Jobcentre Plus. There, she found out about BFE and enrolled on the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in IT User Skills soon after. Tracy had basic IT skills, but had never had the confidence on PCs and shied away from completing any IT tasks.
However, after registering on the UK Online’s ‘Learn My Way’ website, Tracy was able to complete the basic modules on the Internet in conjunction with her Level 1 Certificate. This allowed her to keep learning whilst away from the classroom and come into each session feeling confident about the 2 hours ahead! As a result, Tracy completed her course with no problems!
Since then, her new found confidence on computers has opened up many more opportunities for Tracy. She gained funding from the Jobcentre to study and take her PCV Category D in bus and coach driving and she successfully passed her PCV theory Multiple Choice, Hazard Perception and CPC case studies tests at the start of October this year! She also applied (online!) and was accepted for Catch 22 as a volunteer minibus driver and mentor.
Tracy hopes to become a long distance coach driver with her new qualifications, driving holidaymakers around the length and breadth of Europe!
If that isn’t enough, she has also signed up for the NCFE Level 2 Certificate for IT Users back at BFE. From all the team here at BFE, we would like to say a massive WELL DONE Tracy!
