We have the following exciting opportunities to join our growing team in Walker:

WORK COACH, full time 37 hours per week

Salary £22,443 – £23,945 pa. Permanent, to deliver intensive client support across Newcastle & North Tyneside

Building Futures East offer a range of employment, vocational, personal development training and
work experience opportunities to individuals from disadvantaged communities. These opportunities
are delivered in accessible venues within the communities we serve and from our base on
Walker Riverside in the East End of Newcastle.


Due to an extension to existing funding and the secondment of the existing post-holder to other
duties, we have an exciting opportunity to expand our delivery team and are seeking to recruit a full
time equivalent work coach to provide intensive 1-to-1 coaching support for unemployed individuals across the region. This post will be funded initially via the Wise Steps Building Better Opportunities Project until December 2021. Wise Steps has been awarded additional funding by the Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund to support people facing barriers to work in neighbourhoods across Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead and North Tyneside and South Tyneside, assisting people to access employment and work experience opportunities, support them to achieve qualifications and improve their wellbeing and life chances.

Building Futures East is a delivery partner on the project as part of a diverse partnership of more
than 40 locally-based organisations. These key roles will involve work with clients based across
Newcastle and areas of North Tyneside.

The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience of working with individuals facing
significant disadvantage and multiple barriers to employment e.g. caring responsibilities,
disabilities, mental health issues, addictions, homelessness and accessing employment.
This role requires travel across the region as the support provided is community focussed.

CAREERS ADVISOR

Part-time – Permanent, 21 hours (3 consecutive days p/w), £22,443 (£12,738 pro rata)

Do you have recent experience of working with adults, ideally determining need and supporting customer choices?

Do you have knowledge of the local labour market and issues relating to learning and employment?

Do you hold, as a minimum, Level 4 Diploma in Careers Information and Advice or NVQ 4 in Advice & Guidance?

If so, you could be the ideal candidate for our Careers Advisor post and we would love to hear from you!

As part of our expanding team in Walker, we are seeking to appoint a part-time Careers Advisor, to provide face to face Careers Information, Advice and Guidance to adult customers in a range of community settings and to support customers in making informed career decisions. This work will be part of our wider employability services which support people living across the East End of Newcastle.

INCOME MAXIMISATION OFFICER

Scale 6 pt 26 – 28 Salary Band: £22,443 – £23,945 Full time, Fixed Term until June 2023.

Building Futures East is a community development and regeneration organisation offering a unique blend of personal support and vocational training to individuals in Newcastle and North Tyneside.

We are offering a full-time post to build the financial capabilities and support needs of local people so that they are better equipped to increase their income, manage their money and reduce debts. We also work to improve people’s access to jobs, careers and life opportunities.

You’ll work within a small, dedicated community development team. You’ll provide tailored support in community contexts, to individuals through advice and guidance, goal setting and personal coaching using a case management approach. We are seeking candidates with good interpersonal skills, empathy and an advice/ guidance qualification is desirable.

Experience of delivering person-centred work, in alternative settings is particularly welcome. We will seek candidates with the ability to embrace and develop practical and innovative delivery models for financial inclusion.

The postholder will be expected to participate in reaching out to people in their own homes using a door to door method alongside a fellow team member.  While some training in relation to the methodology will be given, all our roles require self-motivation, target orientated problem solving and competence with email, spreadsheets, word, Zoom and Teams.

We will consider secondments and/or job-share from suitable applicants subject to agreement and we will guarantee an interview for disabled applicants and those who have faced long-term challenges – though you will need to state your particular circumstances in your application.
