Between the 17th January and the 14th February UK Online are running the ‘Go On – Get More Out of Life Online’ campaign.
The main aim of the campaign is to give people a chance find out how the internet could help them in everyday life – from getting on at work to keeping in touch with family and friends, exploring interests to saving time and money. As part of this, we will be running Social Media Workshops on Wednesday 26th January. These sessions are for everyone, either new to Facebook or Twitter or already with an account and wanting to get more out of them. It is also a good opportunity for parents to find out more about Social Media and keeping children safe online. We will cover;
- Privacy Settings –how to control what people can and can’t see.
- Staying safe – what information to share or not to share and with whom, passwords.
- Adding multimedia – adding photos, website links, Youtube videos to your profile.
- Creating Groups – how to create and control groups for causes or community organisations.
These sessions are also a chance for people to find out more about the Internet in general, such as online banking, buying online from Amazon and Ebay, or any other Computer issue they may have!
