Building Futures East has expanded its already well-established Digital Skills programme thanks to funding secured from Sage and Price Waterhouse Cooper. The funding enabled BFE to launch a new Digital Skills project throughout the city specifically aimed at those most in need of understanding and accessing online Government resources. We have hosted a number of workshops across the community to provide training and information to help develop IT skills and give everyone the skills to independently access resources and services online. This follows hot on the heels of the recent launch of Digitalskills.com by BFE partner Go-On UK, a new website which houses learning resources and digital tools to boost people’s digital capabilities.
David Vasey, BFE’s ICT Tutor, commented “There are still over 500,000 adults in the North East who lack basic online skills. With the changes to the benefits system and the introduction of Universal Credit it has never been more important to make sure that everyone has the access and skills to go online. This funding has been a step towards achieving this.”
