“I was working in Tesco’s part time alongside studying at Newcastle College doing an Art & Design course, I knew it was not what I wanted to do both at College and the current part time job. I left college in my second year but kept working in Tesco’s.
I decided I wanted to find an apprenticeship or some work experience in an office environment, I was struggling to get anything and decided to go to Connexions and spoke to an advisor there and found out that a project called Square One was running and she booked an informal chat in with Building Futures East.
Following the Square One informal chat I was offered a 6 months placement, during the six months I gained experience in a number of administrative duties, I was offered another 6 month placement (Future Job Fund) but this time with Building Futures East its self.
I successfully completed my six months placement with Building Futures East, a position became available for a Finance & Information Officer, I applied and was successful in securing the job.
Since then I have taken up study, I am currently doing a level 3 NVQ in Business & Administration and hope to continue and do an accountancy course.”
