Building Futures East is a leading Social Enterprise Charity, which provides the most vulnerable and long-term unemployed with the opportunity to re-train and secure employment. Last night the Charity walked achieved even greater success as they won the coveted VONNE AWARD 2011 for the most exciting project.
The Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the work of individuals and organisations across the voluntary and community sector North East Region.
Helen Tweddle, Head of Operations, Community Regeneration said;
“This fantastic award is recognition of our unique project with Walkergate Primary School to create an externally quality assured “Junior Construction Crafts” programme. The children, aged between 8-14 now have an accredited EDL qualification in brickwork, joinery, plaster boarding and painting the only construction course of its kind in the UK. We are especially proud of the outcomes of this project, which have included raising skills, aspirations, attendance and confidence in young people”.
